Nostra Signora

In the east part of San Sigismondo country you can find  Nostra Signora Church. In 1621, on the place where already in Century XV there was a temple, it was built up a Chapel  that became the destination of pilgrimage to “Madre Dolorosa”.  In 1680 a new construction was built and  between 1765 and 1766 it had  the modifications with which you can see  now. The Church, dipped in the serenity of the lawns and opportunely distant from the State road  N.49/E66, has  a dome  that rests on angular pillars  decorates  with capitals of stucco. Inside of the dome you can see  the History of Ester with the four  Evangelists in the spandrels. The decoration of the dome  has been realized creating a remarkable effect of depth and distance with an architecture with arcades in front of which the personages  are represents to you. In the choir, with star-shaped vault,  the three Divine Virtues and the Costanza are painted. The frescoes have been realized  from the painter Josef Anton Zoller (1730-1791). The column altar in marbled  stucco date back  to 1766. The Nostra Signora Church has considered a real jewel of the Baroque.
