San Ulrico's Church

Saint Ulrico Chapel. To the shouldes of the old railway station, making  for  a path that lead  to the Red Alpin Hut , in  “Bagni d'Ilistra” zone nearly hidden between the trees, you can  find the Saint Ulrico Chapel.
Built up  on the foundations of the Trecentesca Chapel, of which the three walls of the  steeple remain visible, in late Gothic style, the  Saint Ulrico Chapel   was built in  1491 from Master Valentin Winkler from Falzes, that has  completed from few years the Church of Saint Sigismondo. Inside of the Chapel you can find a beautiful Altar , in late Renaissance, dated 1628. To the German Caspar Lindner of Rorschach, with workshop in Bressanone, is attributed  the wood painting representing  Saint Ulrico and Saint George of Cappadocia. In this work there are obvious connections with those of painter Orazio Giovannelli  contemporary  of Caspar Lindner of Rorschach. The balustrade of Pulpit, dated 1775, is painted from Christian Renzler. In it there are represented the Sacred Heart  of Christ and  Saint George and Saint  Martin in saddle to their horses. Similar in style to the sculptures of the Altar with little door of the Church of Saint Sigismondo, it is the sculpture of Patron Saint, just Saint  Ulrico, patron  of the wayfarers. He has   the Crosier and the attribute of the fish respective in the right hand and in the left and dressed  in Pontifical dress with a  Mitra.
